Halfway There

It’s 2019 and we are halfway through.

Halfway Through The Day, The Year, School, Work.

Whichever you’re halfway through, there can be more than just another half. I realized this when I felt stagnant in my fitness workouts.

When at the gym, struggling to maintain the pace on the treadmill, I often catch myself thinking, “I’m halfway there, I will be done after another half, and all this discomfort will be over with.” I could not wait to descend the steps of the stairmaster, or turn away from doing another set of weights, or just leave the gym. What became a stress reliever beforehand was now an everyday, unwanted chore. Yes, reaching mid-race, you could say you’re halfway there. However, where does saying you’re halfway through the race leave you? Are you willing to stop training harder in the gym post-race because you believe that what stands between you and reaching your optimal fitness level and finishing your training is another half of the race? We are beyond capable of more than just aiming to finish anything that we do. Room for growth and prosperity will always arise as will struggles and pain. It was not until the creation of a Youtube video by Yes Theory, a group of guys whose mission is to inspire others to say yes in seeking discomfort and connecting with people, did I want to say yes to my own discomfort and get rid of my own personal mantra of “halfway there”.

Fitness, health and wellness are so important to value. Whether you’re like me and stuck in a rut, or would like to improve yourself and reach new heights of strength, it is possible.

I’m striving for fitness and health, not just good enough. I’m making goals, but not letting them conclude. Our conclusions are also our beginnings. I hope you will join me in saying yes, as well, to new beginnings.
